PELLA IMPACT AWARDS

The Pella community has been fortunate to have an abundance of businesses, organizations and individuals whose actions, programs, philanthropic spirit, and civic-mindedness have made Pella the great community it is today.

We ask you to take a moment and consider an individual or business that has positively impacted our community and nominate them for consideration. We will accept nominations for our Pella Impact Awards from our membership and from the general public.  Recipients of the awards will be recognized at the Alliance Annual Membership Meeting on February 28, 2020.

Please submit your nomination(s) by Friday, January 24. 2020.  Nominations will be reviewed by the Chairs of the 5 PACE Alliance Councils.

NOMINATIONS WILL BE MEASURED BY THE FOLLOWING: Overall impact on the quality of life in Pella, collaboration/partnerships, innovative programs or event(s), products or marketing, entrepreneurial spirit, impact to the local economy, and longevity of impact on the community.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Any individual, business or organization serving or operating in the Pella area is eligible for an award.  Preference will be given to PACE Alliance member nominations. AWARD CATEGORIES:

Business Impact Award:  A business that has been a leader in their field through product development, marketing, advancements in their field, technologies, or employee program.  Open to a business or organization. 

Examples of previous recipients: Cellar Peanut Pub for their owner’s entrepreneurial spirit in bringing a business to Pella that is a great place for social gatherings and business meetings.  Precision, Inc. for their exponential company and employee growth over the past 40 years (from one location to 27 facilities in the US, Chile, Mexico Peru and Canada and from 200 employees to over 1000 employees.

Community Impact Award: Open to an individual, organization or business that is measurably improving the quality of life and the betterment of the Pella Community through volunteer efforts, community-focused initiatives, education projects or other methods.

Examples of previous recipients: The Well Resource Center for their scope of services that touch so many in our community through a free medical clinic, food shelf, ACT ministries, community meals, counseling, and their many other programs.  Cross Roads of Pella for their array of services to the community including after school program for kids, financial assistance for those who are ill or unable to work, counseling, support groups, prevention programs and many more.

Heritage Award: Open to an individual, organization or business that, through their work, has significantly impacted how the community, businesses and/or residents share in Pella’s heritage. 

Examples of previous recipients: Jacki Craver and Phillis Zylstra of Custom Costumes for gift of creating costumes for many in our community which are used to help celebrate and share the Dutch heritage with residents and visitors to Pella.

Spotlight Pella Award: Open to an individual or business who has brought a positive spotlight on Pella through their marketing, programs, event, products or innovation through regional, state or national recognition.  Through their actions, others know of the Pella Community.

Examples of previous recipients: Jay McKinstry who brought a positive spotlight in media coverage to our community for his phenomenal coaching skills in building an award-winning football team as well as instilling in his players how to be great individuals that will grow to be great citizens of our community.  Vermeer Corporation who brought a positive spotlight on the Pella community as media from all over the world covered Vermeer’s exemplary actions of how a company cares for its employees, customers and the community after a disastrous tornado.

1.  When are nominations due?
Nominations will be accepted from December 2, 2019 – January 24, 2020.

2.  Who can nominate?
Nominations will be accepted from members of the PACE Alliance and the general public.  Nominees may be self-submitted or nominated by others.

3. What is required?
Please fill out the nomination form with examples of how they are making an impact.

4.  When will the awards be presented?
The Pella Impact Awards will be presented to the recipients during the PACE Alliance Annual Breakfast on February 28, 2020.
