Housing
From independent living to assisted care, Pella offers a variety of comfortable and secure senior housing options.  Fair Haven West provides independent-living apartments for low-income senior residents.  Vriendschap Village offers both independent-living and assisted-living apartments.  The Christian Benevolent Association (CBA), a division of Pella Regional Health Center (PRHC) & part of SHARe, provides a variety of apartment sizes and amenities for independent living including Pella Manor, Fair Haven East, Hilltop Manor, PRHC’s Long Term Care, and Jefferson Place.

Health Services
Community Health Services of Marion County provides a wide range of services to promote healthful living, including Home Health Care Aides, Public Health Nurses, Nutrition Education, Immunization, Senior Health, Community Education/Screening and Case Management.

Pella Regional Health Center’s Home Health Care team of professionals includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Home Care Aides, and Rehabilitative Therapists that offer Skilled Nursing, Home Health Aides, Rehabilitation, Home IV Therapy and Home Phototherapy, Medical Social Workers, Respite, and other Home Health Care services such as Helping Hands and Hearts, a homemaker service that provides assistance with housekeeping, bathing, errands and more.

Meals
Congregate Senior Meals are served for any person over 60 years of age and their spouse at the Senior Center on the 2nd floor of the Pella Community Center. All meals are provided on a donation basis, with a suggested donation provided at the site.  The center is open 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is closed on weekends and holidays. Dinner is served Monday-Friday at 11:30 a.m., but you may come at 11:00 a.m. for great activities and speakers.

Transportation
The Golden Services Van is generally for citizens 65 years and older; however, service will be open to all who request it.  It may be used for transportation to the hospital, shopping, beauty shop, doctor’s office, and other places around town.  People wanting to take advantage of this service are encouraged to call one day in advance to schedule a time to be picked up and returned. Riders are asked to pay $.50 for each one-way ride to help defray the operation costs.  The van operates Monday-Friday by appointment only from 9-11:30 a.m. and 12:15-3:30 p.m.

Misc. Services
Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a free, confidential service that can help sort through confusing health insurance information.  SHIIP is run by Crossroads of Pella, a non-profit community-based human service agency which seeks to be the first call for help, information or referral services for residents of the Pella school district and surrounding area. Crossroads’ services are entirely free. They are located on the 3rd floor of the Pella Community Center.

The Senior Housing and Aging Resources (SHARe) program offers assistance in registration for the combined facilities wait list, counseling on elder care options, resources for aging services, assessment to assist with placement options, and education on elder issues.

Forever Young, a health information club, is a free service from the Pella Regional Health Center for anyone 55 years of age and older.  Its purpose is to enlighten, challenge and educate senior residents of Pella and surrounding communities.  Mid-month health breaks will feature leading health experts and give seniors a chance to explore current healthcare issues, such as diseases and nutrition.  Social events available at a discounted rate.  Forever Young benefits include:  mid-month health break educational seminars, social trips and events, hospital cafeteria discount, customized fitness classes, billing answer desk, living will and advance directives assistance, copying, faxing, and Notary Public service.
